About 944Fest

A festival. and a track event.

The world's largest gathering of Porsche 944s.

The Core of It

Run by transaxle people for everyone.

944Fest is the once-a-year reunion of the Porsche transaxle community. The 924, 944, 951, 968, and 928, and the people who love them.

There are bigger Porsche events. There are not bigger 944 events.

The 944 is the centerpiece. Every other transaxle Porsche is family. All other cars (non-transaxle Porsches, other makes, completely unrelated vehicles) are our close friends. If you love cars and you like doing car stuff with other car people, you belong here.

We're not a Porsche club. We're not a concours. We're not a track day with extras bolted on. We're a community that meets once a year, and the racetrack just happens to be the easiest place to fit all of us. Getting your car out on track is the bonus.

Who Shows Up

Three kinds of people, all welcome.

The Regular

Knows the rhythm.

Been here before. Knows the paddock, knows half the regulars, comes for the shape of the weekend, Thursday at the Lounge through Sunday's last lap. Logistics fast, hugs slow.

The Newcomer

Nobody knows anyone yet either.

Almost everyone arrives alone, or with one other person. The whole weekend is built around introductions: random kart enduro teams, the Transaxle Lounge, parade laps, a shared dinner. You showed up. That's the credential.

The Spouse / Partner

Not just cars. We promise.

Saturday brisket dinner. Sunday Syrup Swap. Wineries, hikes, and small towns within thirty minutes. Kids 15 and under are free, and there's a Kid's Choice trophy at the car show that gets taken very seriously. You're not a third wheel. There are a lot of you.

TEXTURE

The Feel

Strangers become
a team
by midnight.

Friday night is two hours of go-kart chaos that turns four total strangers into a team. Saturday is smoked brisket and pulled pork in a barn that looks more like a museum, with hundreds of door prizes and trophies that are objectively ridiculous. Sunday morning is pancakes with syrups folks brought from across the continent.

The Transaxle Lounge on Thursday is a tavern full of people happy to make room. The area around VIR fills the gaps. Wineries, hikes, small towns, things kids actually want to do. This is what you don't get from a generic Porsche meet.

Who Runs This

Roll in as a stranger.
Roll out with a hundred new friends.

944Fest is built and run every year by a volunteer crew of transaxle drivers. No corporate sponsor running the show (except when they volunteer). The Track Heroes grilling for 500 on Saturday are the same folks you'll be in line behind for pancakes on Sunday morning. That's why the weekend feels the way it does.
